Thematic Photographic 199 - Got the Blues

Blue Glacier, Mt. Olympus summit climb - August 2010

We had blues aplenty on this trip: climbed over and above Blue Glacier to summit Mt. Olympus, enjoyed blue skies and broiling hot temperatures on both the approach and on summit day. The mountains themselves seem to reflect the deep August blue skies and on summit morning, the other-worldly glow of the alpine start simply radiated a deep, powerful blue from the heart of the glaciated traverse.

Oddly enough, even though I don't have a climb on the docket for the next few months- I don't have the blues. The mountains will be there, waiting for me, when the time is right.

same week as Olympus climb)

The blues of your climb would be no way sad. Am always surprised to see so much blue in Seattle. Maybe a climb through green next time.

As Perry Como sang, "The bluest skies you'll ever see are in Seattle."

Beautiful! These shots brought back memeories of holidaying with family in Seattle - and yes, I do remember blue skies as intense as those.

Sigh... I don't have any mountains on my list right now, either. But just getting out there is a challenge and a reward all it's own. I hope I have such radiant blue skies for the Seattle wedding I'm shooting later this summer...
