Thematic Photographic # 174- Seeing Red

Sequim, WA  -  November 2011

Unfinished Poetry

Peace be to this House.

fragile strength lives here,

dreams await flight feathers

the future rests on small shoulders.

Peace be to this House.

curiosity, intellect and tenacity

abide here

though seasons come and go.

Peace be to this House.

storms will rage and winter’s cold

will fracture ideals, goals, hope-

the fire inside will burn on.

Peace be to this House.

delicate, tenuous grip

on Life’s spinning tilt-a-whirl

Hold on, Little One.

Peace be to this House-

to your House.

May your doors be solid,

your windows to the world, clear.

_________

For Claira

Exactly a month ago, I had the privilege of doing a photo shoot for my brother and his family in Washington State. His oldest daughter, Claira, holds a special place in my heart. I treasured our time together and found that words evaded me, both then and now.

In choosing these photos for Thematic Photographic, it was the vivid red that drew me back to the shots again and again- but also something more. It's rare that I'm at a complete loss for words to describe something, but this is one of those times. I see something in Claira, something in these photos, that I can't find words for. So, for her, a gentle blessing. An unfinished benediction. A bowed head and a promise: Auntie Ti will always have your back, Little One.

Can't think of a better Auntie to have at one's back!!!

The red in those leaves is just heavenly, and you've perfectly captured that "something" in Claira that draws the viewer in and establishes familiarity.

I love every bit of this. Your niece is a beautiful girl, and against the backdrop of the filoage, stunning. They are such great photos.

And your sentiment... You used the right phrase when you said "words evade." I hope someone (maybe Auntie Ti?) prints one of these photos and "Unfinished Poetry," mats and frames them together, and gives them as a gift to Claira. I bet she'd treasure that. I know would.

She is a very lucky niece, and see a gentle stillness in your photos and partly from the words that you did leave here....it shows how dear she is to you. Oh yeah, and the red rocks too!

Peace - we couldn't ask for much more really when you take a step back and think about how lucky many of us are in our calm countries. Lovely work Ti putting the pics together with that. She's a lucky niece

Those red leaves are awesome! Are they like that year round, or do they just get that way in fall?
